Avancia - Old Vines Godello 2020
The Godello grape was almost extinct by the mid-20th century and despite an amazing renaissance is still considered a rare find. The Avancia ‘Old Vines’ is sourced from the oldest and most authentic vineyards in the Valdeorras area of Galicia and is a completely unique white wine produced from the oldest Godello clones in the world. The climate of northwestern Spain is Mediterranean with the twist of frigid winters due to proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. This bottling from Avancia hails from a single vineyard planted in 1904 and has been declared the best Godello in Spain by Robert Parker. Tasting of stone fruits and fresh apples, sporting a medium body and supple texture, this exotic Spanish white would pair excellently with Thanksgiving dishes and traditional autumnal fare. (Jenny)
