Floating at 1450 meters above sea level in a desert cloud of white mountains and rough pampas, the Zorzal bodega glories in the thermal intensity of its sun-drenched altitude at the foot of its volcanic neighbor Tupungato. The district of Gualtallary within the Uco Valley occupies the highest viticultural zone of Argentina and benefits from all its arid elements: alluvial soil, implacable sun and little rain which produce wines of immense rigor, complexity and balancing acidity. Handpicked early for acidic freshness, the malbec impresses with luxurious texture, notes of blackberry, cassis, violets, allspice and anise, along with a nervous mineral streak from the limestone soil. This beauty could easily carry a higher price tag! (Jenny)
