Pioneering New Zealand winemaker Kevin Judd was born in England but grew up in Australia before moving to New Zealand to work for the prestigious Cloudy Bay winery. With enough money in his pocket he finally opened his own winery, naming it after the omnipresent indigenous stones of the area called Greywacke (pronounced grey-wacky.) His elegant and complex sauvignon blanc is always praised by wine critics, showing good depth, grapefruit pith, cantaloupe, pineapple, elderflower and lime zest, with a crisply delicate minerality. Wine Spectator, 93 points: “Aromatic, stylish and distinctive, with honeysuckle, quince, citron and fresh ginger notes on a sleek and mouthwatering frame. Accents of lemon thyme and apple skin linger on the refreshing finish.”
