The venerable vineyard of Chateau de Cruzeau dates to the 1600's when Jacques de Cruzeau, an important lawyer in the nearby city of Bordeaux, created a name for the estate. Located in the southern Pessac-Leognan area known as the Graves, this winery was refurbished in the 1970's to take advantage of its amazing rocky soils and perfect terroir. Now Andre Lurton vinifies a top-class Bordeaux on the estate that is a luxuriant blend of cabernet sauvignon (55%) and merlot, showing spiced cherry, black currant, peppered strawberry, and eucalyptus notes with gentle tannins and excellent persistence. The winery recommends pairing this bottle with smoked duck breast on toast, mushroom risotto, or beef and potato fricassé. (Jenny)
