The Wairau Valley of New Zealand's Marlborough district paints the pristine contours of Isabel Estate, founded by Mike Tiller after he discovered this gorgeous niche of fertile land from aloft during a plane flight. He describes his winemaking as "the poetry of nature that brings together vine and terroir, combined with new-age proficiency and traditional craftsmanship." Their sauvignon blanc exudes native Kiwi aromas of mango, grapefruit, papaya, gooseberry, and other tropical fruits accompanied by a bracing knife's edge of flint and mineral nuances. This wine has the potential to age, but is bright and beautiful now with sauteed sea scallops, shrimp cocktail, or a fresh kale, fennel, feta, and pomegranate salad. (Jenny)
